이번 프로젝트의 출발점은 야외 수영장이었습니다. 호텔 역시 이 공간을 중심으로 다양한 활용 방안을 구상했으며, 야외 웨딩과 각종 행사가 가능하도록 설계를 요청했습니다. 또한, 기존 호텔 2층의 인테리어 리노베이션도 함께 계획되었습니다.

처음 야외 수영장을 방문했을 때, 이곳은 사방이 높은 벽으로 둘러싸여 있어 창이 전혀 없는 구조였습니다. 비교적 넓은 수영장은 오랜 시간 방치되어 더욱 노후된 모습이었으며, 특히 한쪽 벽은 길이 50m, 높이 18m에 이르는 거대한 창이없는 벽으로 이루어져 있어 디자인적인 해결이 쉽지 않았습니다. 그러나 이러한 한계점이 오히려 공간의 개성을 살리는 중요한 요소로 작용하게 되었습니다.

The starting point of this project was the outdoor swimming pool. The hotel also envisioned various uses for this space and requested a design that would accommodate outdoor weddings and diverse events. Additionally, the renovation of the interior on the second floor of the existing hotel was planned in conjunction with this project.

Upon the initial visit to the outdoor swimming pool, it was evident that the space was enclosed by tall walls with no windows, creating a secluded architectural space. The relatively spacious pool had been left unused for a long time, appearing even more deteriorated. One of the walls, in particular, was a massive, windowless structure measuring 50 meters in length and 18 meters in height, presenting a considerable design challenge. However, these limitations ultimately became key elements that contributed to the unique character of the space.

알함브라 궁전의 중정에서 볼 수 있는 아름다운 수공간과 정원, 그리고 이를 병풍처럼 감싸는 열주에서 영감을 받아 탄생한 ‘그랑 파티오(GRAN PATIO)’는 웅장한 아치 회랑으로 둘러싸인 풀과, 공간에 따라 변화하는 아름다운 시퀀스를 담아내도록 설계되었습니다. 또한, 정교한 비례로 완성된 건축미와 함께, 하늘에서 쏟아지는 자연 채광을 온전히 받아들이는 높이 12m의 웅장한 파빌리온(PAVILION)이 연계되어, 방문객들에게 잊을 수 없는 특별한 경험을 선사하는 공간으로 탄생했습니다.

Inspired by the Alhambra’s courtyards, featuring exquisite water features and gardens surrounded by elegant colonnades, the ‘Gran Patio’ was envisioned and designed. This space integrates a grand arched cloister surrounding the pool, capturing a dynamic sequence of experiences as visitors move through it. The architectural beauty is defined by precise proportions, while a 12-meter-high pavilion seamlessly integrates natural daylight from above. This combination ensures that every guest who visits the hotel encounters a breathtaking and unforgettable experience.
